Summary of Changes from Previous Version

Summary of Amendments:
Minor amendments have been made to both the Privacy Policy and Privacy Management Plan to address the University’s evolving use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems and tools, and to clarify compliance with privacy obligations. Key changes include:
1. Privacy Policy (PP):
• Inclusion of a new section on the use of AI systems and tools, affirming UOW’s commitment to lawful, ethical, and privacy-compliant AI use, with reference to the NSW AI Assessment Framework.
2. Privacy Management Plan:
• Expanded references to the use of AI systems and tools within the University context, including alignment with the revised Acceptable Use of IT Policy.
• Clarified Health Privacy Principle 12 (Identifiers) with research examples and noted that UOW does not routinely assign unique identifiers for health information.
• Expanded Health Privacy Principle 13 (Anonymity) with examples of when identification is not required.
• Revised content under the â€~collection’ and â€~use’ principles to provide clearer examples of the use and disclosure of indirectly collected information, particularly in relation to the Acceptable Use of IT Policy (e.g., surveillance, Wi-Fi usage, and CCTV).
3. Administrative Updates:
• Updated clause references, corrected typo errors, revised internal UOW internal policy references and improved language for clarity.
Sections Amended:
• New and updated content in sections on AI use, HPP 12 & 13, and the â€~collection’ and â€~use’ principle; minor edits throughout both documents.
