Summary of Changes from Previous Version
SECTION 2: APPLICATION AND SCOPE
1. Incorporated the UOW-approved diplomas being delivered by UOWC.
2. Short Courses specified as out of scope; an option to integrate Short Courses into this policy at a future date will be fully tested against any potential implementation issues.
SECTION 3: POLICY PRINCIPLES
3. Added clause to reflect Corporate Governance Review recommendation for an annual compliance report to be provided to University Council from the Director SASD.
SECTION 4: CONFERRAL OF UOW AWARDS
4. Additional eligibility requirements included to close compliance and administrative gaps (e.g. requirement for students to have a USI to be eligible to graduate).
5. Allowance for exceptional conferral cases to assist with decision making.
SECTION 5: POSTHUMOUS AND AEGROTAT AWARDS
6. Aegrotat award provisions introduced to cover situations where a student has sustained a permanent incapacity which prevents them from completing their course. Recommendations also made to amend the Coursework and HDR Rules to refer to this Policy for posthumous and aegrotat awards.
SECTION 6: REVOCATION OF UOW AWARD COURSES
7. Clarification strengthened to differentiate between circumstances requiring a revocation and those requiring an amendment of an award.
8. Revocation requirements broadened to include student misconduct and align with existing provisions of the Student Conduct Rules.
9. Amendment requirements clarified to remove ambiguity.
10. Management of official documents in both revocations and amendments revised to close legal and administrative gaps.
SECTION 7: OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS
11. Description of official UOW seal revised for currency, and provisions regarding the release of documentation updated to ensure privacy requirements are well managed.
12. References to course elements and course names reviewed and updated as necessary.
13. Added provisions to cover Dual Awards.
14. Administrative processes for replacing documents reviewed and confirmed.
