Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This is the first document to be published in the University's new Policy Library. It is basically equivalent to the document that was approved and effect at the time the migration occurred, except for the numbering system and references, which have been updated to align with the new formatting and current requirements.

Clause 5. 15-19 Tuition fees charges for Domestic Overtime Higher Degree Research (HDR) students.

8 - 3 March 2015 - Finance and Resources Committee - Revised to reflect recent policy and administrative changes and to better communicate current fee arrangements, including;

Introduction of fees for late HDR completions previously approved by Council.

Clarification of eligibility for refunds for domestic students and the circumstances in which they can apply for a refund of upfront fees or remission of HELP Debt making reference to Special Circumstances under Section 11 of the Policy.

Inclusion of information for Sponsored Students.

Further information at Appendix A regarding Return of Title IV Funds for Students receiving US Financial Aid which was approved by the Vice-Chancellor in August 2014.

9 - 25 September 2019 - Vice-Chancellor - Minor amendments including:

Incorporation of recent policy and administrative changes.

Removal of existing Special Circumstances and Supporting documents with the inclusion of reference to Compassionate or Compelling Circumstances Guideline for consistency across decision making.

Inclusion of information regarding the new Tax File Number (TFN) Verification process in Section 5 – eligibility for a Commonwealth Supported Place. Language and structure streamlined throughout policy in particular Sections 5 & 6 Domestic Student Fees and Section 7 & 8 International Student Fees. Change of name of Department of Immigration & Border Protection to the Department of Home Affairs. Additional definitions referred to in the policy and rewording of definitions for consistency with other UOW policy and procedure. Clarification of refund process for students seeking to transfer to another provider, course withdrawal or non-commencement of studies.

10 - 7 November 2019 - Vice-Chancellor - Minor amendment to section 5.16 Tuition Fees for Domestic Higher Degree Research Students from 4.5 to 4 years for Doctoral and 2.5 to 2 years for Masters by Research students.

11 - 1 January 2020 - (Approved 9 June 2020) - Vice-Chancellor - Consequential amendments to reflect the rescission of General Course Rules and to align with the new Coursework Rules and Higher Degree Research (HDR) Award Rules.

12 - 28 October 2020 - Vice-Chancellor - Minor Amendment to Appendix 1- Return of the Title of IV Funds to Students Receiving US Financial Aid and minor changes to the wording of clauses relating to refunds for tuition fee deposits.

13 - 18 December 2020 - Chief Operating Officer - Administrative amendments to reflect divisional and faculty realignments.
