Section 1 - Purpose

(1) This Policy:

1. provides the policy framework governing UOWD students studying UOW Courses;
2. identifies the UOW policies listed in section 7 – Schedule 1 that apply to the UOWD Students;
3. identifies responsibilities for policy approval, application and amendment.

Section 2 - Application and Scope

(2) This Policy applies to UOWD students studying UOW Courses.

(3) This Policy is to be implemented by UOWD as part of UOWD's obligations under the Agreement.

(4) The Agreement provides that both parties will work towards a single policy framework for UOWD. Should the parties achieve a single policy framework for UOWD, this Policy will cease to have effect.

Section 3 - Policy Principles 

(5) This Policy operates to ensure that the UOWD Students are subject to a comprehensive set of academic and related policies while studying a UOW course.

Section 4 - Policies Applying to UOWD Students

(6) The UOWD Students are subject to the UOWD Policy Framework in respect of those matters affecting them in their capacity as students that are regulated by the UOWD Policies.

(7) The UOWD Students are also subject to certain UOW Policies (the UOW Policies) which are set out in section 7 – Schedule 1.

(8) In addition, UOWD is subject to the UOW Policies in managing affected academic activities either wholly or alongside and in addition to UOWD’s local policy requirements.

(9) If there is any inconsistency between the provisions of a UOWD Policy and a UOW Policy due to UAE regulatory requirements then the UOWD Policy prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.

Section 5 - Access to UOWD and the UOW Policies

(10) UOWD will take reasonable steps to ensure that the UOWD Students have access to all policies affecting them, including providing students with reasonable access to electronic copies of all UOWD Policies and the applicable UOW Policies. 

Section 6 - Approval and Amendment of UOW Policies

(11) UOW approves of the application of the UOW Policies listed in Schedule 1 to UOWD Students studying UOWD Courses. 

(12) UOW will consult with UOWD in respect of any changes to the UOW Policies and any new policy documents that UOW wishes to approve in addition to or in substitution for the UOW Policies. On approval, any such policy documents shall become part of the UOW Policies.

(13) UOWD will consult with UOW in respect of any amendments to the UOWD Policies and/or any new UOWD policy documents before they apply to the UOWD Students.

(14) The approval of the application of additional UOW Policies to UOWD Students is the responsibility of the UOWD Academic Board.

(15) Should UOW require UOWD to develop a new policy document to regulate any aspect of the management of UOWD Students, provided the amendments comply with UOWD's obligations under UAE law and regulation, UOWD will take steps to develop a policy document as required and submit it to UOW for approval as provided in this Policy. On approval, any such policy document shall become part of the UOWD Policies.

(16) Should UOW require UOWD to amend any UOWD Policies, provided the amendments comply with UOWD's obligations under UAE law and regulation, UOWD will take steps to amend the UOWD Policies in accordance with UOWD's policy approval process and submit it to UOW for approval as provided in this Policy. On approval, any such policy document shall become part of the UOWD Policies.
